Music In Color

Music education has changed greatly since the beginning of the pandemic, with many traditionally in-person private lessons becoming virtual. Young music students are struggling to stay engaged and focused in online music lessons.

How do we keep young music students engaged in online music lessons?

Color code the sheet music.

The goal of this project is to create an application that transforms regular sheet music into color-coded sheet music. The addition of color will help children comprehend the sheet music faster resulting in more engagement. This application is geared toward the teachers and will give them a tool to use to prepare the sheet music for lessons.

Meet Jane Wilson, our user persona.

Jane Wilson is a piano teacher with experience directing choirs, bands, and musicals. She graduated with a BA in music history from the Crane School of Music. During her time at Crane, she studied piano and saxophone, worked as an accompanist, taught music lessons, and played in jazz groups. Jane has a passion for teaching and sharing her knowledge and craft with students of all ages. Jane currently teaches private piano lessons from an age of three to seventy-four. Jane's main goal is to have every student play piano for the rest of their lives and have fun doing it.
